Maharishi International University(MIU) is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

The Higher Learning Commission is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

The HLC is the accreditation agency for colleges and universities in the North Central region of the U.S.

At MIU, Consciousness-Based education connects everything you learn to the underlying wholeness of life.

 

All students at MIU are instructed in the Transcendental Meditation® (TM®) technique. Research has shown that the TM technique enhances creativity and learning ability, and reduces stress and anxiety.

CAMPUS

The MIU campus is located in Fairfield, Iowa. Our 370-acre campus has 45 buildings including our net-positive Sustainable Living Center and a 60,000-square-foot recreation center. 

 

MIU offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs on-campus and online.

Ayurveda is the traditional system of medicine in India, and Maharishi AyurVeda is a modern scientific revival of this system. 

Maharishi AyurVeda health system (MAV) is a holistic and scientifically-based system of alternative medicine. 

MIU is the only accredited university in the U.S. offering a master's in AyurVeda!

John Hagelin, Ph.D.

MIU President

The president of Maharishi International University, John Hagelin, Ph.D., is a renowned quantum physicist, educator, author, and leading proponent of peace. 

Dr. Hagelin conducted pioneering research at CERN, home of the world’s largest particle accelerator. He developed a highly successful grand unified field theory based on the superstring, and his articles on electroweak unification, grand unification, supersymmetry, and cosmology include some of the most cited references in the physical sciences.

He received his A.B. summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1975 and his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1981.
